Estonian Lesson 6: 6 Noun Cases and Vocabulary

In this beginner-friendly lesson you’ll learn:
Grammar Recap – Verb-Person Agreement: Review how Estonian verbs change depending on the subject (I, you, he/she/they, etc.), with endings like -n, -d, -b, and -vad.
Grammar – Noun Cases (1–6): Go over the six essential Estonian noun cases:
Nominative: Who/what?
Genitive: Whose?
Partitive: Whom?/indefinite object
Illative, Inessive, Elative: “into,” “in,” and “out of” (e.g., majja, majas, majast)
Vocabulary – Family: Learn essential words for family members (ema, isa, vend, tädi, vanaema, etc.) and how to specify maternal or paternal side (e.g., isapoolne tädi = aunt on father's side).
Vocabulary – Shopping: Useful words for clothing shops and cashiers, like riietusruum (fitting room), suurus (size), rahakott (wallet), krediitkaart (credit card), and phrases such as Kui palju see maksab? (How much does this cost?).
Vocabulary – Clothing: Names for basic clothing items like kleit (dress), mantel (coat), teksad (jeans), kingad (shoes), and more.
Listening Homework (Optional): Watch two short videos—one about grocery shopping and one about ordering lunch. Practice answering simple comprehension questions based on what you hear.
