A Voyage across Space and Languages

It’s time to board our wonderful spaceship, the BRU-1 and leave this earth!

An adventure across the solar system ⭐

Scientist and astronaut from all around the world have gathered to fly out to the edge of the Solar System and conduct their research. However, one of the hardest challenges will still be communication! With such an international team, knowledge of more than just one language is practically unavoidable. Will you be there to help them reach their goals with your studies?

The flight is planned to take the whole month of June,

depending on crew strength. But even just a little help is much appreciated.

During the event-period you will receive different prompts every few days, which will require you to use your languages abilities. Each entry will strengthen the team communication and efficiency of the crew, making you fly faster in return!

You can take a look at the attached flight plan and the required points for each milestone. Every entry will grant you 10 points.

After careful preparation, the BRU-1 is ready to take to the skies! However, before you departed on this trip, you had time for some last words. Don’t worry, you will return to earth, but it will definitely take a while.

The flight is about to begin, buckle up. Everyone is nervous and needs something to distract themselves. As everyone celebrates the great progress that has been made, you spot a strange pair of eyes across the room, but it disappears just as quick. A few moments later a few short screeches are heard. Navigation Duty 🧭

The news that the ship is nearing the asteroid belt let a wave of unease go through the crew. What if we get hit? It is clear that good navigation is vital to get through unharmed, so a special training shall be done by the whole crew, so that everyone can give clear directions in their languages

Write direction from and to a place you can choose. Maybe its your way to school or to work, or from your grandmas house to the nearest Heavy Metal festival (Just not the house next door). Educational responsibility 📚

Before the connection gets even worse, Earth dispatch asked you to send some educational content. Kids(and Adults) on Earth can't stop talking about this ship, so maybe getting you to write something will make them learn something new.

An unlucky Day? 🐈‍⬛

Even in Space, with no real days and years and months, the idea of it being Friday the 13th spreads uneasiness. The air is thick, like there is a big exam coming up and or your dream job interview is tomorrow. Being nervous is the motto of the day it seems and everyone is looking for ways to deal with that. (Some even started hallucinating Boba Shops to cope with it)

Cause for Celebration 🎉

You managed to get pass Friday 13. just fine, and the tension turned into a very jolly atmosphere. Combined with the recent achievement of reaching the first planet after the Asteroid Belt and the biggest planet in the solar system, a content smile can be found around every corner.

A Sight to Behold 🌌

It's just next to the ship, almost close enough to grasp. This might be the most anticipated sight on this journey. You might have guessed it already : Saturn. Its rings are something truly extraordinary in this Solar System and it's the next thing the crew looked forward to after the celebrations the last few days.

Stockpile Miscalculation ♻️

This was nothing to make a great fuss about, but the storage department sent out a little alert regardless : The paper reserves are getting thin. Paper gets used everyday on even a modern ship like that, be it for notes, love letters or language studies.

Send a picture of a language study you did on recycled/reused paper You could use the backside of a used envelope or the side paper carton you were just about to throw away. Against official regulations, someone was drinking Galactic Fizzy Fun Soda© outside of the cafeteria and spilled it onto the control board! Now the ships AI is malfunctioning and all the speakers are transmitting its sugar rush ramblings!

Stitch Switch 🧵

The wash cycles of the washing machines have been messed up by rogue AI the last few days without anyone noticing! Now every uniform has shrunken down to an unusable size. Therefore it has been permitted, that everyone gets their own new personalized uniform out of the 3D-Printer.

Describe how you would like your new outfit to look You should feel comfortable in your Uniform and you can design it to your liking. Or maybe you just want to modify your existing casual clothing. Keep in mind that it still needs to be functional and for an efficient workflow on board.

After a lively month on the BRU-1, the planned mission time has elapsed. 237 submissions later we have passed 7 Mission objectives! We didn't quite reach Neptune, but in the eyes of Mission Control this is still a great success! Thank you for coming on board and we hope you had a fun time practicing your skills!
