Estonian Lesson 7: Review of Past simple and Possessive Pronouns, and Hobby Vocabulary

In this beginner-friendly lesson you’ll learn:

  • Grammar – Past Simple (Review): Revisit the three types of past simple verbs, including:

    • Type I (laulis, kaotas)

    • Type II (sain, jõin, tuli)

    • Type III (tegi, pidi)
      Includes a short quiz to practice 1st person singular forms.

  • Grammar – Possessive Pronouns: Refresh how to say "my," "your," "their," etc., using forms like minu, sinu, tema, and how to use them with objects (minu koer – my dog). Includes examples of conjugated and shortened forms.

  • Vocabulary – Hobbies: Learn how to express hobbies using Ma tegelen..., Ma harrastan..., or Minu hobi on.... Covers:

    • Everyday hobbies (lugemine, kokkamine)

    • Sports (ujumine, matkamine, korvpalli mängima)

    • Music (klaverit mängima, muusikakoolis käima)

    • Handcrafts (kudumine, heegeldamine, õmblemine)

  • Reading Practice: Read a short passage about someone’s hobbies and answer three simple comprehension questions in Estonian.

  • Homework (Optional): Write a self-introduction using previous grammar and vocabulary.
